A Life in Music
I began learning music and piano at the age of four. My first teacher was a cheerful and lovely lady, and I always felt joyful in her classes.
I still remember the pieces we played together: The Lion King, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes, and Castle in the Sky. These melodies marked my very first encounter with music and the beginning of my love for it.
Shortly after, I began exploring works of various styles and periods. My favourite pieces are by J. S. Bach — his Baroque polyphony feels like a full choir performing in perfect harmony. I also adore Mozart's compositions, where each piece has its own distinct musical character and story.
As my playing improved, I competed and performed on stage many times — growing from nervous and anxious to calm and confident. These experiences shaped who I am.
From Primary Three, I joined the training wing of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra Children's Choir (SSCC) and eventually became an official member after two years of rigorous training. Singing alongside others opens a completely new dimension of musical expression.
Learning the piano has not been easy. Long hours of practice and refining details left me feeling anxious during a period of repetitive work. It was then that my teacher introduced me to singing while playing the piano. When piano melodies blend with my voice, I calm down quickly and find renewed motivation amid challenges.
"I hope to keep exploring the world of piano and singing, using music to express myself and bring warmth and inspiration to others."
